You Can Be A Work/Stay At Home Mom

Published by sbelle at 3:15 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Since the summer of 2007, I have been researching ways to earn money from home so that I could be a stay at home mother.  Or, a work at home mother.  I have had to walk in faith and trust and believe God to provide for me and my family, and I must say that He truly has.  In more ways than I can count.  Many would say that it is foolish to just quit your job to stay at home to raise your children when you don’t have money saved to tide you over.  I say, trust in God to work things out.  I wrote previously on my conviction to stay home here.

As a new year prepares to dawn, I am even more encouraged to work from home.  I have implemented money saving strategies, but, I still need to work from home to pay off all of my debt.  Working from home is just that; work.  Freelance writing and blogging is great because I’m able to write after the kids are sleep and early in the morning before they arise.  It can be quite challenging many days, but I keep plugging along until my goals are met.  Working from home has it’s own distractions, which is why I’ve committed to only work while both of my children are sleep.

I’m not saying that it will be easy to walk out on faith and become a stay at home mom, but nothing in this world that is worthwhile is easy, so don’t be faint of heart.  It has been about six months since I have held any kind of outside job.  Has my family struggled financially?  Yes.  Has it been worth it?  Yes.  This season of my life is dedicated to rearing and training my two young children, and I would not trade it for anything in the world.  Going back to being a teacher full-time would mean a guaranteed steady paycheck, but at what cost?  My debts would be paid off faster, but what have I lost out on with my little ones?  Motherhood can be quite challenging, but it is the most rewarding thing that I have ever done.  It is a constant act of service.  My commitment to being home with them propels me to continue seeking ways to save money and ways to increase my income from home.  When working outside the home is not an option, you are forced to figure out creative ways to earn money from home.

God has blessed me in that my writing jobs have been paying off many of my debts.  If you are a young wife and mother and are thinking of staying at home, by all means do it.  The math may not add up when you try to write it out on paper, but with determination and faith, God will supply all of your needs.  You will not be wasting your life by choosing the path that God has laid out for wives and mothers.  You will find that your life will be enriched in ways that you would never have imagined.
